Designer and owner of Casa Lopez, Pierre Sauvage, knows a thing or two about exquisite style. Luckily for us, Pierre has saved a seat at his next soirée for FLOWERBX, inviting us behind the doors of his inimitable Parisian home. Read on for Pierre’s best-kept secrets for dinner party success, favourite tipple come cocktail hour, and - of course - which flowers adorn the table, time after time.

Dress up or dress down?

One or the other, but always comfortable.

Cocktail hour means?

7pm, gin and tonic. Always a Hendrick gin and tonic with cucumber

On my playlist?

I never put a playlist on when I have friends over, I don't like background noise. I'm happy to listen to what they have to say. I love to listen to music but not especially when I have guests

My dinner table is never without?

Flowers

Favourite dinner party flowers?

I like flowers that are very colourful, such as mimosa, anemones, Italian poppy and of course roses

What’s for dinner?

I love unique dishes and dishes that are shared. For example, a haddock kedgerree and for dessert an iced soufflé

Home-cooked or catered?

Always home cooked. Preparing the meal is part of the pleasure of entertaining friends. Preparation is also part of the party

Best kept party secret?

For me, the secret of a successful party is the guest list: people who want to see each other or want to meet. Of course it's better if there are beautiful dishes and a delicious dinner, but without a good guest list, nothing works

Greatest recipe ever copied off a restaurant menu?

Crying tiger (marinated beef)

"Without a good guest list, nothing works"
PIERRE SAUVAGE

Dream dinner guests?

David Hicks, Elisabeth II, Cleopatra, Valentino and my 3 best friends

Truth or dare?

Dare

What’s for pudding?

A very classic dessert: yarrow, chocolate mousse, lemon tart, rum baba or a sorbet. These are often the best!

Herbal tea or nightcap after dinner?

Both! I don't want to miss anything about my evening
