These smaller elements elevate even the most intimate of chic town hall weddings to something with extra detail and flair. Elegant centrepieces or modern, structural bud vases for dinner are a must, plus florals to dress your ceremony and reception space. This could be urn arrangements, meadow ends, floral arches, or something a little more understated. 

Your ceremony is the most sacred moment of the day – intimate, meaningful, and your core ‘marriage’ moment. Flowers can help set the scene for something truly magical, transforming a space to suit your service. Focus on flowers that’ll act as a backdrop in photos – from altar arrangements to aisle meadows, entrance florals and archways. Top tip: be smart with your styling – some aspects may be able to be repurposed to your reception space. 

• Know your venue’s set-up schedule — floral installations, whatever their scale,  can sometimes require hours of hands-on work. Be sure your florist can access your venue on time, and check in for further early-start fees.
• Get more from your florals - Discuss ways to repurpose floral arrangements throughout the day with your florist. 
• Think about the weather - If you’re lucky enough to be getting wed alfresco, be sure to consider the temperature and weather conditions. Some elements may fare better indoors, so be led by your florist’s expertise. 

• Design to your tables’ size and shape – Working with round tables? Choose abundant centrepieces that look stunning from every angle. Meanwhile, long tables work well with modern, structural bud vases, dotted along in varied stem lengths.
• Don’t forget your guests! - Opt for floral displays that don’t obstruct your guests from chatting and eating in comfort. As a rule, anything too tall or wide is a no-go.
• Think about lighting, texture, and tone – Your dinner setting can be the most atmospheric of the day if you get the finer details right – like candlelight, linens, drapery, and floral vessels. 

Following your wedding dinner, the reception space requires some floral touches, too. Hanging installations, bar florals, cake flowers, and statement entry arrangements - all to be the backdrop to your first dance and beyond. 

• Size matters -  Make sure all elements are designed to scale – too large will hide the beauty of a bridal outfit, while too small may not make the desired impact. Always think about how your flowers will look in photographs.
• Choose flowers that go the distance - If you’re opting for buttonholes and corsages, choose flowers that can endure the elements. They’ll be out of water from morning delivery, so longevity is a must. For a modern take, we love to use orchids.
• Get your floral timeline in order - Be sure of who is collecting or receiving your flowers, and where they’ll be when. We recommend assigning an additional contact on the day, so the two of you can enjoy your moment.
• Make it match - Be sure your personal flowers complement your outfit choices, working as well with groomsmen suits to bridesmaid’s dresses. 

Your chosen venue can impact both the scale and style of your floral choices — heritage buildings, ballrooms, and historic features lend themselves to opulent, modern, or large-scale arrangements, while country manors and summer garden settings work well with romantic, more ethereal blooms that give a subtle nod to nature. Similarly to our mantra for seasonality – work with your space, not against it. 

Securing the right floral designers can make or break how you feel about the day – being in safe, experienced hands will take a weight off your mind in the lead-up, plus provide beauty to reflect on in photos for years to come.

We recommend around the 9-month mark to choose your floral team, however, you’re best to book them in as soon as you’ve secured your venue. The earlier we’re involved, the better we can tailor ideas, recommend seasonal blooms, and ensure availability of key floral elements. Plus, top florists book up quickly — especially during peak seasons — so the more time we have to plan and prepare, the more we can delight you on the big day!

Knowing which floral elements are most important to you (a.k.a your non-negotiables) can help us tailor our offering to your bespoke floral budget. While the exact percentage of wedding costs dedicated to flowers is completely dependent on your style of wedding, venue, and scale, between 15 - 20% is the usual amount we see couples allocating to floral elements. Historically, this was more towards the 10% mark, however, couples' increased desire for a more tailored approach has seen flowers take centre stage. It’s also important to understand that prices per flower and aspect vary greatly depending on type, seasonality, and demand. 

Speciality blooms such as ranunculus, English garden roses, peonies, and hydrangeas can be more expensive per stem, however, some may argue are more impactful than a mass of smaller flowers. We recommend focusing on which elements – or flower choices - are key to your vision, then working backwards from there. 

Floral investment is a very personal thing and can range from a thousand pounds to £15,000, or more. Scale and style of celebration are a huge decider and can help us create a starting point to build from, as well as whether you’re leaning into the natural elements of your surroundings, too. 

As a rule, follow this framework:

• A budget of £1-2k: A great starting sum for a small city wedding or elopement. This could cover your must-have elements like personal flowers, table buds, and something special for your ceremony on a smaller scale.
• A budget of £5-10k: For the addition of mid-scale moments throughout your wedding day - think urn arrangements, mantle flowers, meadows, and more - all on a medium scale.
• A budget of £15k or more: Step into wow-factor territory with larger, high-impact floral elements. Arches, extra-large urns, floor-standing installations, and extraordinary touches can all be designed within a grander budget. 

Again, the size and scale of floral elements and the desirability of the stems chosen can have a huge impact on your final costs, as not all flowers are priced equally, and certain structures require more planning, installation, and dismantling time.
