WREATH STYLING TIPS

TIP 01

Define the purpose of your wreath. Is it set to hang pride of place on your front door? Or will it be adorning a chimney breast, or becoming part of a festive tablescape? Once you have decided the one - or many! - ways in which you will be using your wreath, you will be able to choose your size and style.

TIP 02

If your wreath is to be displayed on your front door, attention to detail is key. As a rule, your wreath should cover between 50 to 75% of your door's width, leaving a minimum of 5 inches of space either side for a balanced look. Needless to say, your wreath should always be hung centrally to keep things on the right side of polished.

TIP 03

Consider what will work in your own space. Will you be hanging your wreath in the top, middle or bottom half of your door? This may indicate the size and style of wreath that will best suit your surroundings. Get creative with different options - perhaps you have the dream bay window that will play the perfect host to a dramatically extravagant sized wreath? Go for it! Christmas is the ideal time to make a statement.

HANGING YOUR WREATH

Now you have chosen your perfect wreath, it is time to find it a home. Hanging your wreath can feel daunting, but there are plenty of simple ways to set yours up for the season. Here are a few of our favourite ways to make an impact.

ADD A TOUCH OF RIBBON

Using a seasonal ribbon is a classic way to attach your wreath to the top of your door, hook, or a rail that is already in place. To do so, you have a few options. Firstly, you can simply attach a length of your ribbon to the back of your wreath, and fix in place on the inside of your door, altering its length and drop to suit your space. Alternatively, you can loop your ribbon through the top centre of your wreath, and tie in a bow around your door knocker. Opt to keep things tonal by coordinating your ribbon with a billowing bow in the same shade. We love adding an indulgent touch of velvet ribbon in rich red, festive gold, or deep violet.

USE WREATH HANGER

NAIL IT

Perhaps the most obvious of all wreath-solutions is adding a single nail. Be sure to measure accurately how and where you would like your wreath to hang, then attach a loop of ribbon to the back of your wreath and secure with a nail to the top of your front door. The best part is, as it is hidden, no one will ever know that it is there! Similarly, you can knock a small nail into the inside of your picture rail to bring the same look indoors. Always check that your chosen nail size can carry the weight of your wreath.

WHERE TO PLACE YOUR WREATH

From doors to dining rooms, fireplaces to feature windows, more is more when it comes to assigning a spot for your festive wreath. If you cannot quite decide where to place yours for the holidays, here are some of our favourite corners for seasonal success.

Front Door Wreath

FRONT DOOR DAZZLE

The perfect place for your wreath to make a statement, your front door is a traditional yet fail-safe space to let your neighbours appreciate your new festive favourite. Use a ribbon, door hanger, or simple nail in the top of your door to attach your wreath in place, then let it shine.

Mantle Wreath

MANTLEPIECE MARVEL

More of a fan of indoor decorations? Above your fireplace is one of the most show-stopping places to position your wreath to truly make an impact. Knock a nail into the wall, or hang from your picture rail, to create the perfect backdrop for your wreath. Make the most of keeping things inside by adorning yours with delicate fairy lights, adding tonal yet tasteful decorations, or by keeping things simple with a velvet bow.

Dining Table

DECK YOUR DINING ROOM

Not just for hanging, your festive wreath can add a slice of decadence to your next dinner party. Simply add to the centre of a smaller setting, or dot along the middle of larger tables, for a show-stopping and sustainable display that you can reuse throughout the season.

WONDEROUS WINDOWS

If you are lucky enough to have a wow-factor window at home, it will make a perfectly unique spot for hanging an extra extravagant wreath. Attach a hook to the top of your window frame and loop through with clear wire or a seasonal ribbon to suspend your wreath mid-window. Alternatively, knock a nail into the top of your window frame and repeat the same method.
