Advice for women starting their careers?

Make sure that your business authentically reflects your mission, your passion, and your unique point of view.

What would you tell your younger self now?

No one wants to 'peak' in their teens. Coming into your own is worth the wait, and your 40s’ will be your best decade yet.

What has been your most pivotal career moment?

Moving from a beauty founder of my eponymous skincare brand to becoming a beauty retailer, and hoping that my experience will get others to success quicker.

How do you balance your work and life? Is this important?

I don’t believe in balance per se, I believe that everything and everyone you love has to split 100%, and sometimes others get more. What is most important is to make sure that you’re giving enough percentage to your mind, body, soul, and self-care so you are strong enough to show up for everyone and everything else.

What do you hope for the future of women in business?

That we come together to co-create a new paradigm of success led by women, who continue to inspire the next generation of female entrepreneurs.

What has been your biggest challenge in being a woman in business?

I believe that as a Black female entrepreneur, my biggest challenge in the past has been access to capital to scale my business. It gives me such hope that, while we have a long way to go, I’ve been successful in raising the funds we need for thirteen lune.

Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years' time?

In 5 to 10 years' time, I see us continuing to grow thirteen lune to massive success while building generational wealth through the lens of beauty.

How do you empower women within your business and in life?

I strongly believe in mentorship. Seek mentors and BE a mentor. What you see, you do, so be the change to show young girls that they can do it too.

Next move?:

More downtime and travel with my family, and more happy hours with my girlfriends!

What would you like your leadership legacy to be?

It’s okay to fall down. Getting back up takes you to a better place, a bigger role, a greater purpose, and a happier life.

If you were a flower, what would you be, and why?

I believe I would be an orchid! There is something magical about how orchids, when nurtured, can defy the odds. They can regrow their blooms, bring joy, and have no problem starting over as long as they are surrounded by loving souls.
